National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

Do you know that 46% of Americans have some form of mental illness and are unaware or deny it? Mental illness is a broad term for biologically based medical disorders of the brain. NAMI is a national organization of dedicated people who understand mental illness and help individuals and families affected by these conditions. When untreated, mental illness can significantly impair a person’s ability to function in daily life. It’s important to remember that mental illness can affect anyone, regardless of their background.

NAMI’s mission is to provide advocacy, education, support, and raise public awareness about mental illness. Their vision is to help individuals with mental illness on their road to recovery. To achieve this, NAMI’s goal is to provide access to quality healthcare, housing, education, and employment at the county, state, and national levels. These efforts make a significant difference in the lives of those they serve.
