Treatment Overview

Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB)

The Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) is a targeted injection treatment that helps regulate the body’s stress response. It has shown remarkable effectiveness for patients suffering from PTSD, sympathetically mediated neuropathic pain, and CRPS/RSD.

Who It’s For

SGBs effectively treat PTSD, Long-Covid–related sympathetic overdrive, and neuropathic pain like CRPS. We use stellate or lumbar sympathetic blocks for upper or lower body pain, claudication, and other specialized conditions as needed.

How it works

The sympathetic nervous system controls “fight or flight,” and when overactive, it can cause anxiety, irritability, and sleep issues. A stellate ganglion block (SGB) uses a precise anesthetic injection to calm these nerves, helping the body reset and relieve symptoms.

What to Expect

Ultrasound or X-Ray guidance is used to perform SGB, LSB, or other sympathetic nerve blocks in a monitored and safe manner. Image guidance also ensures accuracy. The procedure takes about 30 minutes. Patients usually experience relief within hours to days, and some report lasting improvements after a single treatment. A series of treatments must be performed for some patients.

Treatment Frequency and Results

Some individuals benefit from a single SGB (or LSB) injection, while others may require follow-up sessions. Studies suggest significant improvement in PTSD symptoms, sleep, and mood following treatment.
